Day: 1
Itinerary:
Upon your arrival into Maun Airport you will be met and welcomed by a representative from The Booking Company, who will assist you with your connection onto light aircraft to Little Mombo Camp.
Little Mombo is an extension of Mombo Camp, sharing the same island north of Chiefs Island. Little Mombo is all about privacy – the three tented guest rooms are a fair distance from the rest of the camp. It has private communal areas -all in the same design as Mombo and a private plunge pool. The luxurious tented accommodations that overlook the floodplains, have four poster beds, en suite bathrooms, outside showers and private salas for midday siestas.
There are connecting walkways which are up to two metres off the ground, allowing game to wander freely through the camp – but also allows for your safety. The dining room, bar and living area overlook the open plain in front of the camp. Little Mombo has its own boma and you will enjoy traditional meals and dancing in this traditional kgotla.
Bush brunches in the hide facing the hippo lagoon – one of the most beautiful spots – is a treat. Here you overlook peaceful floodplains with antelope grazing and hippos snorting in the lagoon. All meals are similiar to a small family gathering, due to the intimate nature of Little Mombo camp.
Day: 2 & 3
Itinerary:
You will enjoy game drives on Chief’s Island and surrounding areas. Game drives are in 10-seater open Land Rovers and the vehicle is equipped with tree, bird, mammal books, pair of binoculars and insect repellent. Mombo boasts the best game viewing in Botswana. The sheer numbers and diversity of mammals found in this area all year round are staggering. Elephant, buffalo, impala, spotted hyaena, lion, leopard, wild dog and cheetah are all found here and even small predators like serval and side-striped jackal are seen.
Birdlife is prolific and you will see waterfowl like African Jacana, Pygmy-Geese, Goliath Heron and migrant waders in summer being particularly common.
Day: 4
Itinerary:
After an early morning activity and breakfast, you will connect with light aircraft for your flight to Maun, in time for your onward connection.
